HISTORY

THE 2021 LAUREATE > ELVIRE CAILLON

Painter, drawer and illustrator, Elvire's work is deployed in multiple domains, from exhibitions to the illustrated press, through publishing, theater, music and textiles. From the Estienne school to the Beaux-Arts of Paris, her career has led her to develop a pictorial universe whose language is enriched with each new form, new context, new collaboration. It is precisely in this diversity that she finds her blooming and the resources for her creativity, considering that the artist's own characteristic is to "move". The FESTIVINI residency represents for Elvire an opportunity to explore a new field of collaboration, in the world of gastronomy which interests her particularly.

"Elvire Caillon's paintings are at first glance the translation of common images of happiness: daily scenes of quiet life, children, group visit to a museum, vacations, climbing, subway platform, ... familiar representations of today's life, never made on the ground but mounted from one of her photographs or a drawing projected on the canvas, allowing a precise and bold framing. The paintings of Elvire Caillon are inspiring. Her painting suggests a lot. She restores the emotional charge of the image by neutralizing certain details of the form and by playing on the different tints." Françoise Docquiert

THE 2020 LAUREATE > LAURELINE DE LEUUW !

Laureline de Leeuw graduated from the École Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Angers in 2015. Since then, she has been working as an independent designer in Paris. She approaches design as a method to question realities, anchoring the creation in a context, be it geographical, economic, social, cultural, or as many parameters that shape a territory. Several residencies have allowed him to anchor his projects in multiple territorial contexts, whether on Reunion Island or in the Mediterranean basin, from Morocco to Marseille. In September 2019, it is at the Royal Abbey of Fontevraud, that she was inspired by the world of Festivini, to honor the art of wine and all the crafts that surround it.

All the History

Initiated with JEAN-ADRIEN MERCIER (1899-1995), painter and poster artist born in Angers, the meeting of Art and Wine in the Saumur region began in the 1950s

Around 1957, Mercier illustrated a leaflet presenting the wines of Anjou for the CIVAS (Comité interprofessionnel des vins d'Anjou et de Saumur) entitled : The seductive wines of Anjou and Saumur.

The collaboration continues with this poster, created for the Saumur-Champigny appellation :

Later, Stéphanie Javel created these illustrations, including the famous Red Dress....

The story continues intensely with FESTIVINI...

In 2014,

For the 5th edition of the Wine Culture Festival, two Belgian artists have taken up the challenge of designing the FESTIVINI posters : Carl ROOSENS & Noémie MARSILY.

These artists worked in residence at the Royal Abbey of Fontevraud and were able to immerse themselves in the cultural heritage of the Saumur region.

In 2015,

Céline DEVAUX, takes us into her graphic and poetic universe. She reveals the identity of the Festival in an exceptional poster :

IN 2016

CHARLOTTE VITAIOLI is the first winner of the Fontevraud La Scène + FESTIVINI residence.
